Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Police is viewing the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025 as a significant opportunity to showcase its preparedness and efficiency, according to DGP (Director General of Police). Addressing the media, the DGP emphasized the extensive arrangements being made to ensure the success of the grand event, which is expected to witness an unprecedented gathering of 40 to 50 crore pilgrims.
“The Mahakumbh is a global event, and we are committed to making it a success in coordination with other departments,” the DGP stated. He elaborated on the robust security measures, highlighting a seven-tier security system designed to manage the massive influx of devotees while ensuring their safety and convenience.
Key Dates and Safety Arrangements
The DGP outlined six key dates during Mahakumbh 2025, including three royal baths (Shahi Snans), which are anticipated to draw the largest crowds. “In addition to the holy dip at the Sangam, efforts are being made to enhance the spiritual experience for visitors,” he added.
To bolster safety and disaster preparedness, approximately ₹200 crore has been allocated for equipment such as disaster management tools, fire-fighting systems, and devices to prevent drowning incidents. The DGP assured that all necessary precautions were being taken to handle emergencies effectively.

Proactive Security Measures
The DGP also addressed recent actions undertaken to neutralize threats. He highlighted a specific case involving suspects wanted in Punjab, stating, “As soon as we received intelligence from Punjab Police, we acted promptly. The suspects were neutralized with the help of our liaison officers (LOs), who received real-time information. Every operation was closely monitored from our headquarters.”
Collaboration for Success
The DGP reiterated the importance of inter-departmental collaboration for the success of Mahakumbh. “UP Police, along with other departments, is working tirelessly to ensure that Mahakumbh 2025 becomes a model event for both security and efficient crowd management. The eyes of the world will be on Prayagraj, and we are determined to rise to the occasion,” he said.
With less than two years to go, preparations for Mahakumbh 2025 are in full swing, promising a safe, organized, and spiritually enriching experience for millions of pilgrims.
